First Physics Experiment
Final Retry and Results
I attempted to repeat the experiment again, replicating the initial setup as closely as possible.
Figure 3. The test glass was partially filled with water and again placed near a wall behind a sofa.
After a few days, the water had not changed much. I suspect it might be due to the atmospheric conditions in San Diego, but I don't remember Romper Room saying it would take more than a few days. I was patient, and hoped the cleaning service would not touch the glass this time. After about two weeks, I checked the glass and it was empty! Finally, the experiment succeeded.
Figure 4. After a few weeks, the untouched glass behind the sofa was now empty.
A close-up of the bottom of the glass showed some white residue. Further study will have to wait. I wonder what I would have concluded, had I seen this 56 years ago!
Figure 5. The glass no longer contained water, but a white powder was left in its place.
